Mangalore
A beautiful costal city that has historically been of strategic importance, Mangalore is the ideal base from where one can tour south-western and costal Karnataka. Pristine beaches lined with coconut trees, beautiful people, ancient temples and churches are some of the attractions in store for a traveler. St. Mary’s island, the temple town of Udipi, Ullal & Malpe beaches are worth a visit. Needless to say, the costal cuisine is absolutely amazing. Don’t miss the Kane fish (lady fish)!

Gokarna
Gokarna, in Kannada, means ‘cows ear’ owing to the ear-shaped confluence of two rivers. Situated along the Karwar coast, this place has some of the best beaches that one could find. Gokarna is primarily a pilgrimage center and much of its coast line is unexplored. Kudle beach, offers a breath-taking view of the sea and its white sand and palm trees sooth your senses. Om beach, another beach close by, of late has been seeing a surge in tourism and its natural virgin beaches are a peaceful getaway from the more noisy and happening beaches of nearby Goa. We can assure you of one thing – if you are the ‘beach-kinds’, then you wouldn’t see too many better beaches anywhere in the world!

Devbagh
A short distance away from the Karwar coast is Devbagh, a beautiful island that would remind you of fairytales you read during childhood. For a beach-lover, Devbagh is simply the best place to be in. lazing in the hammock, a game of beach-volley ball, a swim in the sea, a visit to the local village, watching the lighthouse in the night and the trademark brilliant coastal cuisine; if fairytales ever came true, then Devbagh would be the place!

Marvanthe
Marvanthe is not a destination in itself, but it is advisable to include a drive through Marvanthe during a coastal Karnataka trip. The reason – a very singular and exquisite sight that again reinforces that fact that there could be no better an artist than mother nature. As you drive through, you encounter a sight that would leave you stunned - on one side, you have the Arabian sea and on the other, you have a beautiful river flowing, with the western ghats as backdrop. This sure would make your jaw drop!
